GAME RECAP vs VILLA MARIA - September 25, 2021

GOOD TEAM EFFORT

SCHENECTADY, NEW YORK - It was a good team effort today.  The match remained scoreless until 18:47 in the first half of the game, when  Patrick Palmer, a Senior and a Schenectady native, assisted Jhonatan Moreno in a shot for the first goal of the game.  Junior Depina subbed in at 26:55 for Tajay Brahman and just 4 minutes into it, Euwan Bogle set him up for a goal which put 2-0 for the Bobcats on the scoreboard.  At 13 minutes Bobcat Gerard Lucenna Borras hit the spot straight to Jhonathan Moreno who shot in a third goal (his second for the game).  The first half ended with a score of 3-0-Bobcats. Less than a minute into the second half, Depina passed off to Palmer who lobbed in the ball for a goal showing a nice lead for the Bobcats with 4-0. Luis Arvelo (GK) subbed in for O'Connor with 35 minutes left to the game.  The Bobcats were in the box for close to a minute when Faisal Rahmani assisted Depina with a hard-fought shot silencing the Vikings with a 5th goal. Bobcats James Castillo fouled offering a penalty kick to Viking Kade Strea,k who slipped the ball past Arvelo rendering a first goal for the VIkings (4-1) with 28 minutes to go in the second half. The game began to take a turn in the last minutes of the game when Viking, Fabrizio Ubillus took a corner shot at the Bobcats goal setting up Nick Tabak for a second score (4-2). With 8 minutes to go the Bobcats bench tightened up their defense but still fouled giving a free kick away that was successfully deflected by Bryant & Stratton.  IT got more serious with 3:15 left and in defense, the ball was deflected in the wrong direction giving away another goal to the Vikings and closing the gap 5-3.  The Bobcats bench fought back hard and in the end the final score remained 5-3 Bobcats.

The Men's soccer team will play September 26, 2021 at 3:00 vs Southern Maine Community College at Union College immediately following the Lady Bobcats who play at 1:00, a double-header against the Seawolves.
