IT WAS A SWEEP
BUFFALO, NEW YORK- The Bryant & Stratton women's soccer team matched up with the Villa Maria Vikings at their home season opener on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The Vikings were under their new head coach, Scott Laubenheimer and as well, Gustavo de Costa is the new head coach for the Lady Bobcats this year. Albany moved to a 1-1 record and Villa Maria starts the season with a 0-1. In the end, Villa Maria was held to zero shots and the Bobcats made 24 garnering 9 goals for the Bobcats.
"It was definitely refreshing to come back this weekend with a win. Our game plan today was to come out strong and immediately apply pressure." Coach Gustavo The Bobcats successfully achieved just that by scoring 4 goals in the first 10 minutes. The Bobcats maintained possession for the majority of the game creating many opportunities on goal. Gustavo continued "It was a good team effort today with 4 players getting on the scoreboard. Lydia Mohedano was our leading scorer for the game with 6 goals, Melissa, Amy, and Miranda all adding a goal each. Defensively we were solid, preventing Villa Maria from having any opportunities on goal at all. Very proud of the girls today. I want to applaud Villa Maria for their efforts with only 9 on the roster." Villa Maria continued to work hard and they never gave up and they have a season ahead.
The women's soccer team is back on the field on September At Afrim's Sport Park playing Central Maine CC at home.
