BOBCATS WIN THE SERIES AT USCB
((March 8, 2020) at South Carolina Beaufort
Game 3 won the Bobcats the series after splitting the DH yesterday. "Our pitchers Brunken and Loschiavo were great....throw strikes and good things happen. Emerson Gomez had a great day. When he stays within himself, he's as good as anyone, and he keeps getting better. To win the series is big for us. Great job Bobcats." Head Coach Bob Godlewski
Marlinson Brunken pitched 7 innings holding the first three to just 1 hit. Inning four Brunken ran into a rough spot allowing hits followed by errors in the field garnering 3 unearned runs for the Sandsharks. The USCB Sandsharks left us scoreless the following inning leaving 2 on base bottom of the 5th. Brunken recovered nicely and put down 3/4 next hitters with help from the field.
Going into the 6th inning, first baseman Gabe Murillo doubled starting a rally. Next up, Tredell Blow singled followed by Catcher, Exavier Santiago , who took one for the team with a HBP. Runner Yersel Marti took Santiago's place on first. Shortstop Emerson Gomez next at bat- hit a sweet spot bringing in 2 runs and tieing up the game. Brunken went back to work on the mound facing another four batters with no answer from the Sandsharks. John Loschiavo relieved Brunken in the 8th inning when Beaufort's 5-spot singled. Loschiavo struck out the 6 spot and the next two at bats flew out forcing an extra inning.
Top of the 10th, once again Gabe Murillo set the pace with a single. Tredell Blow, strengthened the scoring position with a sacrifice bunt advancing Murillo. Next up Exavier Santiago singled and with dirt flying, runner Yersel Martie stole second making the game promising for the Bobcats outlook. Gomez, as if an instant replay from the 6th inning -drove the ball hard into the outfield earning two more runs for the team with Murillo and Santiago crossing the plate. Martie stole home with our 7-spot on plate. Loschiavo took the mound for a 3rd inning at the bottom of 10th, with the Bobcats leading 6-3.
Beaufort's 4, 5, & 6 spot were unable to help the Sandsharks with the final half inning resulting with two flies and a ground out winning the game and the series for Bobcats. Pitcher-Loschiavo earns the win for the team.
The Team has no time to celebrate and are traveling to Fort Lauderdale to tend to business facing Florida National under the lights tomorrow, March 9th under the lights. Check back for options for watching and live play.
