Bryant & Stratton College Adds Baseball Program in Albany

Bryant & Stratton College (BSC) is pleased to announce its second athletic program in Albany. Starting in September 2018, BSC will launch its inaugural season of men’s baseball, competing in Division I of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). Baseball will join basketball in the athletic program in Albany. The college is pleased to announce that Bob Godlewski will lead the Bobcats as the first head coach in program history.

Godlewski comes to BSC after last serving as baseball head coach at the College of St. Joseph, a position he held from 2014 to 2018, and where he restarted the team after a seven-year hiatus. Under his leadership, the team made four USCAA World Series appearances and won two USCAA national championships, and he was named USCAA National Coach of the Year in 2016.

Prior to his time at St. Joseph’s, Godlewski coached at SUNY Adirondack, Castleton University, Columbia Greene Community College and the College of St. Rose. He is also credited with starting the Belmont Baseball Club, where 41 players went on to play professionally, and he coached the Schenectady Blue Jays. Godlewski also spent seven years as a Tampa Bay Rays scout, and he was a pro prospect who had a successful pitching career at Ithaca College.

“I am extremely excited about becoming part of the Bryant & Stratton College family. My goal is to build a baseball program that will be competitive on the national level. My players will be expected to excel in the classroom first; baseball will take care of itself. I believe we will be competitive from day one. We won’t shy away from playing the best competition we can and will be aggressive in scheduling. I am excited by this opportunity and what Bryant & Stratton will offer to our student athletes,” said Godlewski.

Godlewski has launched an immediate local recruiting plan seeking potential student athletes to start competition this fall. Bryant & Stratton College will offer athletic scholarships to qualified student athletes.
